Guest Artist: SUSANA DE MEDEIROS 15 > 27 MAY 2018 E.B. 1 Bairro Operário, Lagos
Susana de Medeiros runs a series of workshops organised as a journey to the four corners of the world, combining questioning and curiosity about our surroundings with know-how from the world of visual arts.
The body, the senses, the home, nature, for example, are thought about, experimented with and reinterpreted using the works of various visual artists – Lourdes Castro, Alberto Carneiro, Pablo Picasso, among others.
Diving into shadows – after all, shadows can have colour
Based on the imagery of Portuguese artist Lurdes Castro, we build shapes / figures to be projected and manipulated in small shadow theatres using overhead projectors.
How do you build a house? – a journey through the way space is inhabited, reflecting on how houses are built here and in many other parts of the world. A materials manipulation and volume construction workshop in which participants build a house as a group using various materials such as cardboard, paper, branches, leaves, twigs, fabrics, among others.
Stories of the Earth – sedimentation / flowering
Based on the work of various artists: the works on paper by the Portuguese artist Alberto Carneiro (As Flores do meu Jardim), the paintings of aboriginal peoples and many others, we will paint using various earths and vegetables by crushing and pressing them.
