no body never mind, 002

By: Ana Borralho & João Galante
Premiere: Negócio / ZDB Gallery, Lisbon - 2005
Duration: 60"

no body never mind, 002 is part of the project NBNM, which consists of three pieces addressing the themes body / mind, outside / inside, emotion / feeling, me / others.

During the entire performance, the two naked performers lick the body of each other as a way to glue golden leafs on the body of the other. Doing this is a way to immortalize a body that will die. Since saliva is not the best glue for golden leafs, they will, after some time, constantly fall and their work could be infinite and absurd. It is almost like a Mobius ring.

During all the duration of the performance, the improvisation percussionist Eddie Prevóst plays Vítor Rua’s graphic score composed for this piece.
The lights of the performance, as a sunrise and a sunset, very slowly come from dark to light and back again to dark (takes 40 minutes to get to the maximum light and 20 minutes to go dark again). It is a work inspired by the tradition of gluing golden leafs on Buddha statues in Asian countries.
